Modern Military Technology

Around the time of the US Civil War many developments were forthcoming in the areas of chemistry and aerodynamics. These advancements were incorporated into the designs of artillery, projectiles and explosives so that the military technology from before the US Civil War is realistically from a previous era than the technology after the Civil War. Many improvements such as rifling, elongated ammunition and smokeless powder defined the modern era of military technology that began at the US Civil War.
